Paganism is our sacred, ancestral, and primal birthright.
We are all born wild and in harmony with Earth, just like the river, the tree, the sky, the bird, the bear, and the bug.
We are all born Pagan.
This sacred right to Earth-based spirituality was stripped away from our ancestors by imperialism, colonialism, capitalism, and organized religion.
Through centuries of spiritual taming, we lost connection with both Spirit and Earth, and instead turned our attention towards more material pursuits. We learned to accumulate wealth rather than wisdom; to control the land beneath our feet rather than connect with it.
Yet Paganism remains an innate part of each one of us; all we need to do to reclaim it is to accept this simple fact.
The natural world does not demand perfection, nor does Earth-based spirituality. The sacred lives and thrives in the wild; to tame it and give it strict rules is to strip it of its full power yet again.
We study and learn from the past not so we can recreate exactly what was lost, but so we can gain the inspiration to re-wild our spirits and craft our own practices.
My spiritual practice does not need to look like my ancestors’ practices, or like yours, or like anyone else’s to be valid, authentic, and meaningful.
Just as the river, the tree, the sky, the bird, the bear, and the bug all have a unique and important role to play in the rhythms and cycles of nature, so do we all. So do our beliefs, our rituals, our traditions.
We all come as we are, and the Sacred Wild meets us there. That is our Pagan birthright.
