These beautiful handcrafted pagan prayer beads (also called meditation beads, witch’s ladder, or pagan rosary) were made to honor Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, beauty, pleasure and sexuality (syncretized with the Roman goddess Venus).
These Aphrodite / Venus prayer beads are made with 8mm genuine crystal beads and silver-toned metal spacer beads on stainless steel wire, with a metal charm representing the goddess at each end. This set measures 17.5 inches in length.
★ ABOUT APHRODITE / VENUS ★
Aphrodite is the Greek goddess of love, beauty, pleasure, passion and sexuality. Ancient works of art depict her as exceptionally beautiful, and quite often nude. She is frequently accompanied by Eros, the Greek god of love and sex (known as Cupid in Ancient Rome).
According to Greek mythology, the goddess Aphrodite was born when Cronus (Saturn) castrated his father Uranus with a sickle and cast his genitalia into the sea. Aphrodite appeared from the resulting foam, and in fact the Greek word for foam is “aphros.” In addition to her role as a goddess of love, Aphrodite was also worshipped as a goddess of the sea, especially by sailors and other seafaring people.
Aphrodite is known for her great beauty, and is said to have engaged in a number of romantic and sexual affairs. Among the most famous of these were with the god Ares and with her mortal lover Adonis, who tragically died in her arms after being killed by a boar. She was also the patron goddess of prostitutes.
Venus is Aphrodite’s Roman counterpart, and the Ancient Romans adopted many of Aphrodite’s myths and iconography. In Rome, prospective brides would offer Venus a gift before the wedding. Venus was also associated with wine, and was honored during a number of wine festivals.

Howlite is a calming white and gray stone that is associated with balanced emotions, calm communication, and restful sleep. A wonderful stone for meditation and prayer. The patterns on these beads are reminiscent of the marble statues of Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome.
Larimar is a rare seafoam-blue stone found only in the Dominican Republic. Its soothing colors are reminiscent of Caribbean sea, and indeed larimar is thought to encourage tranquility and to facilitate emotional release.
Rose quartz is the stone of universal, unconditional love. It opens the heart to feelings of compassion, empathy, acceptance and peace, and also stimulates the imagination.
Red agate is associated with the lower energy centers in the body, particularly the root and sacral chakras. Known as the warrior’s stone, it is believed to ignite feelings of motivation. These beads have been carved into the shape of a rose – one of Aphrodite’s symbols.
