SHOP MOON GODDESS PRAYER BEADS
These beautiful handcrafted pagan prayer beads (also called meditation beads, witch’s ladder, or pagan rosary) were made to honor Selene, the Greek Titan goddess of the moon (known as Luna in Roman mythology).
These Selene prayer beads are made with 8mm genuine crystal beads and silver-toned metal spacer beads on stainless steel wire, with a metal charm representing Selene at each end. This set measures 23 inches in length.
★ ABOUT SELENE / LUNA THE MOON GODDESS ★
Although many goddesses across time and cultures have been associated with the moon, Selene was viewed by the Ancient Greeks as the personification of the moon itself.
Goddess Selene was known for driving a moon chariot powered by two white horses (sometimes depicted as bulls or oxen) across the night sky. She was traditionally worshipped at the new and full moons. According to ancient legend, Selene was the sister of sun god Helios and goddess of the dawn Eos.
The Hymn to Selene describes the goddess as exceptionally beautiful, bright, and benevolent. Selene is commonly depicted with a crescent moon on her forehead. According to Greek lore, Selene bore fifty daughters to her lover Endymion.
