Thor’s energy feels, above all else, protective. Okay, that’s not entirely UPG—Thor is the Protector of Midgard, after all.
But what I mean is that Thor is not just the powerful warrior who fights fiercely in battle & slays the Midgard Serpent, but also the one who hallows homes & lands, making them sacred and safe. This is how I most often experience him.
In a way, Thor’s presence feels vaguely similar to that of his mother, Jörð (Earth): steady, grounding, welcoming, & familiar.
In fact, I have achieved some of my most favorable results while venerating both Thor & Jörð in the same ritual. I find that praying to the two of them during storms & other weather events is wildly comforting.
I also connect deeply with Thor in his role as a god of agriculture & the land.
I call upon him to bless & protect my land, to bring fair weather & rains to help the plants grow. I feel him strongly as I stand with my bare feet in the grass, staring up at the mighty oak tree, basking in the beauty of Earth.
I have been surprised to discover over time that Thor is more responsive to my prayers than almost any other deity. His presence feels like a smile, a nod, & a reassuring hand placed firmly on the shoulder, reminding me to stand tall & stay strong, because things are going to work out just fine.
I find that Thor is difficult to offend, & quick to forgive any clumsiness or missteps during rituals. My offerings, whether humble or elaborate, have always been well received. One must always be respectful, but Thor does not demand the same level of formality as some other deities do.
In my experience, Thor is a wonderful deity to pray to when dealing with anxiety or other mental health challenges, because his presence leaves you feeling strong, centered, grounded, focused, & safe.
On the other hand, I have at times felt Thor’s wildness & untamed ferocity during intense storms. Watching the lightning flash across the plains of West Texas as the sky darkens & dims the sunlight reminds me of the true power and might of the God of Thunder.

I just discovered your blog searching for UPG on Thor. I really love your writings and what you have to say. I’ve been connecting more with Thor lately and get a very, very wise side to Him. He outwitted Alviss and He has such grounded wisdom. I feel protecting fatherly vibes from Him in a different way than I do from Odin. Also get images of His wain blessing and hallowing the fields. Happy Thursday and Hail Thor!

Thank you, I’ve checked out your blog as well and really enjoy it! I completely agree with all of that — it’s always so interesting to hear from others who experience the gods in the same way.
